With each new year brings opportunity. A chance to grow and achieve. However, before taking the first step into the classroom this year, students throughout the Tampa Bay area are going to need gear. That’s where Florida’s Sales Tax Holiday comes in.
From August 4-6, Florida’s 6 percent sales tax will be waived for a variety of items. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming weekend:
- No sales tax will be applied to the purchase of school-related items costing $15.00 or less. Items such as pencils, highlighters, folders, and binders are all tax-free.
- No sales tax will be applied to the purchase of clothing and certain accessories costing $60.00 or less. This includes school uniforms, backpacks and shoes.
- Personal computers costing $750.00 or less will also be tax free.
It is anticipated that shoppers will save an estimated $33.4 million during the weekend.
